StudyMRCS, FRCS Course Director Dr. Manikandan Kathirvel Gets London Global Health Care Excellence Award 2021

In another glittering moment of pride for StudyMEDIC and its sister concerns StudyMRCS and StudyFRCS; Course Director Dr. Manikandan Kathirvel was chosen the winner of the 4th London Global Award by London Health Care Excellence Award 2021 and Global Outreach Enterprise Educator Award by the World Tamil Organization for his Excellence in Surgical Gastroenterology.

He received the awards at a colorful event held at House of Commons, British Parliament; in the presence of Chief Guest Rt. Hon. Virendra Sharma MP, various other dignitaries from different walks of life, and medical fraternity.

Working at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, UK; Dr. Manikandan is a man of great knowledge and expert surgeon. He is also one of the most reputed MRCS, and FRCS mentors from India practicing in the UK.

Hailing from Tamilnadu in India, Dr. Manikandan completed his graduation and Master’s in General Surgery (MS) from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu, India). He won the gold medal for the best PG dissertation and was the topper in his PG batch.

He cleared his MRCS Exams to attain the prestigious Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014. Subsequently, he did his super-specialty training in GI surgery and solid organ transplantation. He cleared his M.Ch Exam in GI Surgery with distinction and gold medal.

After moving to the UK in 2018, he cleared the FRCS exams in General Surgery and Transplantation to attain the most prestigious fellowship of “The Royal College of Surgeons of England” in 2021. He also holds the fellowship of Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) which is recognized by the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). He has been working as a senior fellow in HPB & Liver transplant surgery at the Royal Free Hospital London since January 2020.

He is also a certified lead multi-organ retrieval surgeon serving the NORS under the NHSBT for two and a half years. Before his present job, he had worked as a senior fellow in the Cambridge university hospital in the department of multi-organ transplant surgery. He was awarded the “Prof. Balakrishnan Endowment Award for Young investigators” and obtained the best research publication of the state for his work on immune suppression in live donor liver transplants.

Dr. Manikandan joined StudyMRCS/FRCS as Course Director and leads the team of MRCS and FRCS mentors to ensure best-in-class training to our students. This is the fourth year of the London Global Health Care Excellence Award which is given to those health care professionals as a merit of their excellence in the field.

The year 2021 has been a year of awards and various recognitions for StudyMEDIC and its subsidiary firms including StudyMRCOG. Earlier this year, COO & Chief Mentor Dr. Sowmya N.S. bagged the coveted Global Achievers’ Award while StudyMRCOG received the Indian Achiever’s Award for Excellence in Medical Education by the Indian Achievers’ Forum (IAF).

It was followed by Dr. Preeti Yogesh Bhandari who recently received the Professor Chamberlain Award for 2021 by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) for her contribution and achievement in the field of medicine.
